Cynthia Hayward, Founder and Principal of Hayward & Associates LLC, has been an industry leader in healthcare facility planning and the development of space planning methodologies for healthcare institutions for 25 years. She was a partner with a healthcare management consulting firm for over 20 years (Chi Systems, Inc. which became The Chi Group) until she founded Hayward & Associates LLC in the spring of 2003. Ms. Hayward has assisted hundreds of healthcare institutions throughout North America to economically and efficiently plan their capital investments by integrating strategic business planning, operations redesign, financial analysis, equipment and technology planning with facility planning.

In addition to her consulting activities, Ms. Hayward has had a long history in research and development relative to healthcare facility planning and has been a speaker at regional, national, and international conferences on issues relating to strategic planning, operations redesign, and facility planning and capital investment ― including conferences sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Hospital Association, and the American Institute of Architects. She has authored articles in various industry publications over the past two decades and has served as a Guest Lecturer at the Harvard Design School Executive Education Program. She is an ongoing contributor to Strategic Financial Planning, a quarterly publication of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Ms. Hayward has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and is a Licensed Architect (Michigan). She is member of the American Institute of Architects, a Fellow of the American Association of Healthcare Consultants, and a Founding Member of the American College of Healthcare Architects.
